The NAST Outstanding Young Scientist Award is the Philippines’ most prestigious national recognition for young scientists, given by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Erika received this distinction for her pioneering research applying network science, complexity theory, and computational methods — including early machine learning and AI approaches — to real-world problems in the Philippines, including urban mobility, public transportation, and social dynamics.
